Our Mission
Urgent MD is dedicated to fostering a community of physicians who are unwavering in their commitment to earning patient trust, ensuring satisfaction, and prioritizing holistic wellness. We believe that the best care is delivered when doctors are empowered with the time, tools, and psychological support necessary to place patients at the center of everything they do. We are resolute in our stance against reliance on healthcare systems that prioritize profits over patient outcomes. Our business decisions will always be guided by the input and approval of our physicians, ensuring that patient care remains our highest priority.
Dr. Elizabeth Shields, MD
Founder and CEO

Dr. Elizabeth Shields completed her undergraduate studies at the US Naval Academy and went on to graduate from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences at Walter Reed Military Medical Center as a Doctor of Medicine (MD). She completed Family Medicine Residency at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in California, where she was elected as Chief Resident. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and specializes in primary care medicine for all ages (0-100+). She views patients as whole people, and considers not only symptoms, but seeks to understand her patient’s background, culture, values, and life situation to find the most effective option for healing and longevity. Embracing direct primary care and eliminating the many costs of battling insurance allows her to take the necessary time and energy to truly care for her patients. In her free time she loves to create new recipes in the kitchen. You can also find her running around Fort Adams State Park or on nature walks with her three kids at Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge. She started Urgent MD as a way to reach out and provide excellent medical care to the people in her local Aquidneck community.
